Explore the world of space technology
Transfer of space technologies – be they for example sensors, solutions that utilize space-derived materials, data compression tools – to a more terrestrial dimension can be beneficial for life on planet Earth. Several technological applications developed for space missions do favour the creation of a vivid and active Intellectual Property (IP) framework with a significant commercial potential beyond space use.
Having in mind this potential, the European Space Agency and the Italian Space Agency emphasize the importance of using this IP portfolio to achieve terrestrial benefits: the ESA patent portfolio, the ASI patent portfolio and the European Space Software Repository (ESSR) contain descriptions of technologies and software, with details on their innovative advantages and suggested market applications. In light of the above-mentioned, as technology broker our role is twofold: we identify promising ideas; and we support space companies to explore new market possibilities. Yet, we also encourage the reverse process: we address non-space providers and we help them in entering the space market.
