These are produced through a sintering process, which involves compacting and heating powdered materials to create a porous structure. The porosity of the material is crucial as it allows for a large surface area to interact with and absorb gases. The mass can be sintered around an internal heater that allows an easy and reproducible passage of electrical current for activation.
